Rescued!

I've been "out of commission" for the past month - first my computer, then my camera!  I have made several projects, but posting was impossible.  My camera is still acting up, but the picture is a bit blury, but at least it gives you an idea of what I did. Now, blogger has changed and I have to figure this all out!  Crazy!

At the water slide, my daughter spent a lot of time rescuing the dragonflies.  They got wet and then couldn't fly.  Many died until she arrived.  She dried them out in the sun and then they were able to fly away!  She was very proud of herself!

This was one of the fastest layouts I have ever done.  I saw the bright colors in the picture and literally walked over to my paper stash and picked them up!  I found some K&Co.  dragonflies and flowers.  They were not the right color, but me and my lovely markers (copics this time) saved the day again!   I used almost the entire package.  The main piece of paper is Junkitz, but I don't know who made the other piece of paper.  I painted some of the wavy lines with black paint.  Funny thing is, I didn't realize until after I painted them that my daughter's bathing suit was black with colored waves!  duh!  lol!  I pulled the stickers/sayings from my partially used labels basket. I liked how the second piece of paper also have sew stitches.  These outlined the picture naturally.   I went to sew on the left border to match the ones already on the paper, but alas, my sewing machine decided it wouldn't work for me either!  Well, at least that is three, so I shouldn't have any more electronic gizmos driving me crazy!  I used the roll on zigzag stitch by DaisyD.  It looks pretty good!  Way easier than the machine any old day!  Ha!  to my sewing machine!  lol!

Pretty in Pink

This is a scrapbook page of my daughter when she was younger.  I used a hodge podge of items to accessorize the page.  The words, except pink were a K & Co. set that I colored with a sharpie.  Sharpies are great things.  Easy to change things to the colors you like with them!  I used Rock Princess Cricut cartridge for the skulls along the bottom.  My daughter loved it!  I used some strips of tape to blend things together.  It is such a little bit of a thing, but it sure works to bring elements together!  Everything I used came from what I had.  Some of these items are really old!

Sorry that I have been MIA!  My computer was not working and I was not able to post. 

I made these for my grand son's birthday party.  I used the Imagine Buccaneer cart.  I also put a ship and a sea captain on the birthday bag I bought to put the items into.  For the card, I used all DCWV papers.  I used an EK Success  punch for the trim.  I cut the feather off of the bird's hat and added a real one.  My little guy loves feathers!  I used a Sizzix texture place to emboss the circles on the purple paper.  It made a huge difference to the card!  The card is only the purple part.  It is sitting on the envelope it will go inside. 

There will be 5 girls and 7 boys at the part.  I like how the color of paper used changed the way they looked on the outside!  "New" chests for the girls and "Antique" for the boys.  Easy to tell from the outside and the inside which is for which!  I used adhesive velcro dots to keep the lids closed.  There are brads to make them look a little nicer.  I didn't like the paper handles either, so I took some braided cord with gold running through it and added those instead.  I think they turned out great.   My daughter was happy with them and grand kids were happy with them and that is what it's all about!

There was a serious learning curve for these boxes for me!  As there are no instructions, I didn't realize how much scoring was needed!  It is very time consuming.  It is also a bit of a challenge to keep all of the little tabs on the chest top where they need to be while waiting for the glue.  There is also a defect in the carts printing/cutting.  On the one side of the chest the handle inserts are way out of level!  The one side is perfect, but the second side you will have to cut a hole for the handle.  Well, I should say if you are OCD like me!  lol!

Fairy "Ugly" Papers

My mother was looking at my papers the other day.  She loved most of them, but then saw this one pack by K&Company that she just didn't like at all.  I told her almost anything can look good if you just take the time to work with it.  Here are two cards that I made to show my mother how nice "ugly" paper can be.

This first one has a fairy from the Tinker Bell cart.  I was fortunate enough to not have to make this myself.  I received her in a swap that I recently was part of.  Cricut_crazy_lady gave it to me.  Her colors matched perfectly with the paper!  The tag is a Sizzix cut.   The wood flower, I believe is from Kaiser crafts.

This second one I colored the fairy - Baby Fairy Flora by Mo Manning and put her on an Elegant Edges mat.   I used the same papers on it. 

I like how they both turned out.  So did my mother!  Once I started to use the papers, I liked them! 

Quorra

Sorry bloggers that I have been MIA.  I assure you I have been busy working and crafting too!  I will try to get several postings done this week to show you what I have been up to. 

Here is a layout that I did awhile ago of my daughter at Halloween.  I want to post more layouts as people have asked to see more.   The layout is simple, but I wanted to ensure the focus remained where it needed to be.  I used Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes for the font and Mother's Day Bouquet for the flowers.  I found beads on a string at my local dollar store. My mother thought I was crazy when I bought them, but decided she would buy some too figuring that if I came up with an idea for them she wanted in!  lol! 

My daughter looked really good that day.  Her dad worked a lot of hours getting her shirt done.  It had wires on it that lit up like Quorra of Tron.  It was no easy task finding that thin light tubing!  She had a power pack that she turned on.  In these pictures you can not see the glow.  I did her hair and makeup.  She got a ton of compliments, mostly by boys because they knew who Quorra was and were very impressed that she did too, and that she glowed!  The girls loved her hair and make up.  Go figure!  lol!  She loved how she looked and had a little strut that day!  She was disappointed that the only close up of her face was the one that she decided not to smile!

Love You A Latte

I made this card for my husband just to let him know I love him.  He remarked that I  even "made it a large!"  The colors were chosen to match his TOGO mug.  I used Love You a Latte and Paper Trimmings for the strip along the bottom.  They looked like little drops of coffee to me.  I had the orange flower border that I added a few rhinestones to.  The "love, you, a" were letters in my stash.  They, like the flowers are flocked.  There is orange polka dot paper and then I put polka dots on the outside base.  Love polka dots!  A couple of staples for a  little more masculinity and we are done!

Valentine's Day Card

Yes, another Valentine's Day card!  lol!  I made this card for my husband.  It uses Pop-Up Neighborhood for the plane and Create a Critter for the clouds.  I did some hand stitching along the matt and then added some polka dots.
