Penny Black Birthday Card

I have begun my mission to ensure everyone has a Birthday card this year!  I make cards for everyone in the office and try to get them out to others as well. 

I used my Silhouette to cut out the scalloped circles.   You can also use your Cricut or Spell binders.  I just happened to be playing with the silhouette.  I then layered the circles and cut off the edge.  I then added the punched pieces from the corner piece (E K Success) onto the edge of the circles.  The edges of the paper were distressed.  I tend to use the CTMH one that I bought some time ago.  It still works great, so I keep using it!  The little girl was colored with copics and her dress was cut out of the background paper and layered for more dimension.  The flowers are from K&Co and the leaves are cut with my Cricut.  I always mass produce these beauties.  I love them!  Some prima flowers, and bling.  The twine was colored using a marker as I didn't have anything in the color I wanted.  Thank God for markers and ink pads!  I used Tim Holtz tiny attacher to add a more rustic look.

It's a Girl!

One of my colleagues is having a baby girl.  It was her last day at work and we had a mini going away for her.  This is the card I made for her.

I used Cricut carts:  Pop Up Neighborhood for the buggy, Elegant Edges for the matt and Birthday Bash for the banner.  I used the cupcake Cuttlebug folder to add dimension to the matt.  The paper is Webster's Pages petite papers,  and Stampin' Up card stock.  I added bling, a Maya Road bow, brads, ribbon, twine, puffy and bubble alphabets. 


This was a very quick card to make.  Very fun and very well received!

50th Southwest Anniversary

I decided it was time to try my hand at the Cricut Craft Room.  When I got there, to my delight, there was a "use it free" cartridge called Southwest.  There is also a contest for the cartridge as well that ends on the 21st of March.    All I can say is, "Thank you PC!  Your timing is impeccable!

My aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary is coming up.  My aunt loves everything Native so the release of this, plus free usage, couldn't have happened at a better time!  Her favorite colors are red and blue.  Her favorite animal:  the bald eagle.

I had originally wanted to get this done for the CricutFANatics blog, but life did not allow for that.   Do stop by there and check out the great ideas going on over there!

Here is a better look at the chunky charm I made to go onto the book.

 I made the heart, the eagle and 50 from Southwest using Poly Shrink.  I cut them out with my Cricut and then colored them and then melted them with my heat gun.  To the 50 I added some Judikins glaze and then sprinkled some glitter to match the 50 I made on the album.  I learned how to make chunky charms from the girls at the Cricut message board trades.  (I completed a full year of swaps!  So fun!)

The Oh Happy Day, the eagle and the border were cut from SW cartridge.  The book shapes were cut from Elegant Edges.  (One of my all time favs!)  The 50 was cut from the Gypsy Font, which is another free cart available on the Cricut Craft Room site.  The flowers were sprayed with copic markers to make them a better match.

These are the first two pages.  The heart vase and the love label were cut from SW cartridge.   I took one of the little hearts that were cut out from the border image and added it to the top button.

 The next two pages.  The arrows were cut from SW cartridge.  I added some hearts to them and also along the borders of the tag.  I covered a tag I didn't like with washi tape that matched the theme I was doing the mini in.

 The next two pages.  The one on the left is my favorite one in the mini.  I love the motion of the page with the bling and the man's motion looking like he is playing a song for them! 

 The next two pages.  The butterfly is from SW cart also.  The tags were cut from Gypsy Wanderings. I found the little pockets on the right hand page in my stash while I was looking for something else.  I thought they went really well.  She can put little treasures/notes in them.  Happy find!  The flowers and black pearls are Prima. 

 The next two pages.  I cut the Mr & Mrs and the feather from SW.  The little hearts are the left overs from the first couple pages with the heart border.  I love the feather!  It is so sweet!

 The next two pages.  I used Gypsy Wanderings for the mat on the left and SW for the border on the right.  The butterfly is from Recollections.

 The last two pages.  I added the rest of the left over arrows to the right page and another border from SW.  There were so many nice borders!  The mat on the left is from Gypsy Wanderings.

I am super pleased with how the album turned out.  It is definitely in my aunt's style.  She is a hard working woman, but not a frilly one.  She will like it because it is beautiful, but not in that girly-girl look.  She had 5 boys, so she didn't get much use for girly-girl things.  My uncle will like it because she likes it.  (He's good like that!)

The book was bound with my Cinch.

All of the papers were:  cardstock - Bazzill, DCWV for all the designer papers, except the orange swirl and the black swirl - they are 7Gypsies papers.

I didn't buy anything new to build this with.  MamaC (aka Carol) will be so proud!

Bunny Love

Hello there!

Today I made a little Valentine's card for my grand daughter.  It was made with my new Penny Black stamp set.  I stamped the image twice.  Once on the plain paper and then again on the polka dot paper.  (Love polka dots!!!)  I cut the ears and her dress out of the polka dot paper and layered it on.  I colored the rest of the image with Copics and then cut it out.  A little flock for her tail.  The large heart I added glossy accent.  Hard to tell if she is supposed to be a Valentine's or Easter image... So I'll likely use her for both!

The heart behind her was cut out from my Cricut using Sweethearts cartridge.  I chose to save the heart for another time and use the negative.  I cut strips from paper that had already been used for a project or two and layered it behind the heart.  It's a fun way to use leftover pieces of paper in a pretty way!  I added some brads, some twine and another heart from the stamp set.    I added some white dots along the bottom.  They really changed the look of the project!

Up & Running

This one was made for another colleague.  This one broke her ankle!  She'll be off for 12 weeks!  These poor girls!

I used Old West for the horse and Gypsy Wanderings for the trees.  The papers are Prima.  The top one was misted and inked, the bottom one was just inked. 

The birds are from a Tim Holtz set.  The tiny tag was also made with my Cricut.  If you don't have a Cricut, there are other ways to make these.  I also have the Sizzix dies that I use all.  The tags are just so sweet and work great for that little word/sentiment!

Thank You Pumpkins

I made this for my boss's daughter.  I was looking for a pumpkin, but right now they are not on sale and I really wanted to make fresh pies!  She offered to give me one.  It was also made for a challenge on the Cricut Circle Canadian Members board.  You do no have to be Canadian to do it!!!

Vintage Charm Swap

Wow, it's been a couple of weeks since I posted!  Yikes!  I guess the wedding and then watching my grand kids kept me tied up!  Well, what an awesome way to be tied up!

These charms are for a swap on the Cricut RAK & Swap message board.  I have two partners, both wanted a vintage theme.  I made an "Oops" in that I didn't realize one wanted a vintage/sewing theme and the other a vintage/wings theme.  Since I didn't notice it until after I started, I combined the two themes and came up with these.  I think they look great and I hope my partners are okay with the amalgamation.

I have not joined a lot of swaps yet due to working so much, but these charm swaps have "charmed" me!  lol!  I love them.  I haven't the foggiest what I will do with the ones I get back, but I love seeing what each lady comes up with. 

I made the tag and all of its pieces with my Cricut.  The tag is from A Child's Year.  The dress form was made from French Manor.  The silhouette is from Heritage and the oval behind it is from George.  The spool is from Happily Ever After.  It was so much fun using my Cricut again!  The poor thing has been sadly neglected! 

These things could be made with Sizzix or another cutter if you don't have a Cricut. 

I used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo around the edges of everything and his tiny attacher to secure the ribbon.  I also used his paper tape to add a bit of dimension.   I layered the silhouette picture and then took glossy accents to secure the acetate on.  I realized you can't add too much on these because they will be covered by the charms and the charms could wreck them!

Of course I still have not mastered the camera.  One day!

Father's Day

I recently purchased a bunch of paper and things from Making Memories during their warehouse sale.  If you have never managed to buy from them during their sale, you need to catch it!  It was my first time being able to catch the sale.  A wonderful person on the Cricut site enabled me by posting about the sale.  So glad she did!

 I will soon be doing a video and a give away with some of the paper that I got!

So this card is the card I made with Making Memories paper Toil & Trouble.  It made such a lovely masculine card!

I used Nifty Fifties to cut out the music record in the middle.  Luckily, he is old enough to know what a record is.  Lol!   The card stock is from Bazzill and SU!  The words are rob-ons from a Swatch Book from Creative Imaginations.  I used some rub-ons on the inside from Making Memories as well. Some Washi tapes to add a little interest.  The celebrate metal embellishment was out of its package, so I'm not positive if it is MM or not.  Add some twine and it's done!

Twine Jar

I decorated this jar to hold extra embellishments.  It was inspired by the Cricut Circle Blog weekly challenge.  I have been looking at this jar for awhile wanting to use it.  I used twine and tiny glass beads to cover the jar.   I used Cindy Loo for the tag.  K&Co. flowers for the top.  I really like how it turned out!

I made a non-Cricut card for my daughter's birthday.  Trying to use up some of my stash.  I'm sure I will never use it all! 

Rescued!

I've been "out of commission" for the past month - first my computer, then my camera!  I have made several projects, but posting was impossible.  My camera is still acting up, but the picture is a bit blury, but at least it gives you an idea of what I did. Now, blogger has changed and I have to figure this all out!  Crazy!

At the water slide, my daughter spent a lot of time rescuing the dragonflies.  They got wet and then couldn't fly.  Many died until she arrived.  She dried them out in the sun and then they were able to fly away!  She was very proud of herself!

This was one of the fastest layouts I have ever done.  I saw the bright colors in the picture and literally walked over to my paper stash and picked them up!  I found some K&Co.  dragonflies and flowers.  They were not the right color, but me and my lovely markers (copics this time) saved the day again!   I used almost the entire package.  The main piece of paper is Junkitz, but I don't know who made the other piece of paper.  I painted some of the wavy lines with black paint.  Funny thing is, I didn't realize until after I painted them that my daughter's bathing suit was black with colored waves!  duh!  lol!  I pulled the stickers/sayings from my partially used labels basket. I liked how the second piece of paper also have sew stitches.  These outlined the picture naturally.   I went to sew on the left border to match the ones already on the paper, but alas, my sewing machine decided it wouldn't work for me either!  Well, at least that is three, so I shouldn't have any more electronic gizmos driving me crazy!  I used the roll on zigzag stitch by DaisyD.  It looks pretty good!  Way easier than the machine any old day!  Ha!  to my sewing machine!  lol!

Arrrgh!

Sorry that I have been MIA!  My computer was not working and I was not able to post. 

I made these for my grand son's birthday party.  I used the Imagine Buccaneer cart.  I also put a ship and a sea captain on the birthday bag I bought to put the items into.  For the card, I used all DCWV papers.  I used an EK Success  punch for the trim.  I cut the feather off of the bird's hat and added a real one.  My little guy loves feathers!  I used a Sizzix texture place to emboss the circles on the purple paper.  It made a huge difference to the card!  The card is only the purple part.  It is sitting on the envelope it will go inside. 

There will be 5 girls and 7 boys at the part.  I like how the color of paper used changed the way they looked on the outside!  "New" chests for the girls and "Antique" for the boys.  Easy to tell from the outside and the inside which is for which!  I used adhesive velcro dots to keep the lids closed.  There are brads to make them look a little nicer.  I didn't like the paper handles either, so I took some braided cord with gold running through it and added those instead.  I think they turned out great.   My daughter was happy with them and grand kids were happy with them and that is what it's all about!

There was a serious learning curve for these boxes for me!  As there are no instructions, I didn't realize how much scoring was needed!  It is very time consuming.  It is also a bit of a challenge to keep all of the little tabs on the chest top where they need to be while waiting for the glue.  There is also a defect in the carts printing/cutting.  On the one side of the chest the handle inserts are way out of level!  The one side is perfect, but the second side you will have to cut a hole for the handle.  Well, I should say if you are OCD like me!  lol!

Valentine's Cards & Boxes

I made these cute little boxes from Sweet Tooth Boxes.  I was a little intimidated, but they actually went together very nicely, and to my surprise, really quickly!  I found that by cutting the tops at 10.4 inches instead of 10.5 inches it fit just a little nicer.

The kids already got them as my granddaughter is sick and missed getting to sleep over.  They were pretty pleased with what we made.

My daughter and I made delicious lemon cupcakes and frosting.  These are some of the cupcakes my daughter (12yrs) made.  They were her first attempt and I think she did pretty good.   I love the little paws on the fish bone cupcake!  lol!
